FOOD
Polish Food is diverse and delicious. It is made with almost all of the four basic food groups in mind, with a little something from each in every dish. Polish food ranges from kielbasa (sausage), to golabki (cabbage rolls), hunter's stew to stuffed eggs, and from dumpling soup to mushrooms in sour cream. Another delicious meal is pierogi. There are also many other dishes containing meat and many other dishes containing fish. There are also many desserts like poppy seed cake, crullers, royal mazurek, and a dish much like a cherry pie. Poland also has seasonal dishes like Christmas Barszcz with Pierogi, which is served not only at Christmas but Easter too.
Many different foods come from Poland. They range in diversity from barley and wheat to fish and hogs. In the Baltic Sea (north of Poland), many types of fish can be found such as carp and herring. On the Northern European Plain hogs are raised and potatoes are grown. Slightly higher in elevation, more in the central part of Poland, rye and barley are grown and hogs are raised. In this same elevation in the western part of Poland, potatoes and sugar beets are grown. At a slightly higher elevation in southern Poland corn, wheat, and potatoes are grown. In the Sudete Mountains of southwestern Poland cattle and sheep are raised.
The following are pictures of some of the Polish dishes.
